FAQS
How do I get started with The Practice of Jordan Robinson, LMFT?
Call or text me at 805-451-3222 for a free 15-minute phone consultation.
You can also email me at JordanRobinsonSB@gmail.com.
If I’m unable to answer immediately, it’s likely because I’m in session with a client. I will do my best to respond to your inquiry within 24 hours.
What are your fees?
My initial 15-minute phone consultations are free.
The initial intake appointment is $175 for 60 minutes.
Ongoing individual sessions are $175 for 50 minutes.
Couples and family sessions are $175 for 50 minutes.
Payment is due at the time of service. I accept cash, check, Venmo, Zelle.
Please note that fees may be adjusted annually to reflect inflation, increased overhead, and market rates.
Do you offer a sliding scale or reduced fees?
Yes, and while my reduced-fee sessions are limited due to demand and availability, I do my best to accommodate those with financial constraints on a case-by-case basis. If a reduced-fee spot isn’t currently open, I can either place you on a waitlist or provide you with a list of other therapists who may offer more immediate options.
Do you take insurance?
I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. However, I can provide you with a “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan’s coverage.
To determine your coverage, it’s helpful to contact your insurance provider and ask the following questions:
Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?
Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it?
Does my plan limit the number of therapy sessions per calendar year? If so, what is the limit?
Do I need a referral or written approval from my primary care physician for services to be covered?
Please be aware that insurance companies generally require a mental health diagnosis to process claims. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Medical Savings Accounts (MSAs), and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) typically do not require a diagnosis.
What is your cancellation policy?
Your appointment time is reserved specifically for you. If you need to miss or reschedule a session, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice.
I have a 24-hour cancellation policy:
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice, miss your appointment, or reschedule on the day of your appointment, you will be charged the full session fee.
Sessions booked within a 24-hour period are considered confirmed, and the same policy applies.
I do offer rescheduling, but if the appointment is not rescheduled prior to 24 hours of the original appointment, you are responsible for the canceled appointment fee, as well as the rescheduled appointment fee.
Please note that insurance companies do not reimburse for late cancellations or missed appointments.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 50 minutes long. Extended couples or family sessions are available for up to 75 minutes and will be charged proportionally.
How often will we meet, and are sessions confidential?
Ideally, sessions are held once a week in the office at 105 E. De La Guerra Suite 8, Santa Barbara, CA. Depending on your needs, we may meet more or less frequently. I also offer telehealth video or phone sessions.
I offer various days and times, typically Monday through Friday, from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Weekend sessions may be available on occasion for an additional fee of $50.
All information shared in therapy is confidential, except in the following circumstances:
Suspected child, dependent adult, or elder abuse or neglect.
Intent to harm self or others, including suicidal or homicidal ideation.
Legal subpoena issued by a judge directly requiring a waiver of confidentiality.
All other releases of information require your written permission.
I'd like to attend some sessions with my teenager. Is this possible?
15 min parent consultations will be scheduled every 4–6 weeks to discuss any concerns regarding your teen. If you would like to meet sooner or desire a session together with your teen, we will discuss and arrange this as needed.
